Getting a new phone can be very thrilling and exciting at the same time. The phone that you thought about for some months or maybe weeks before getting a hold of it can put you in a state of overthinking and setting of expectations, will it be good? Will the true unit justify it's online reviews? Well one thing's for sure, we do want to test the heck out of our newly bought phone upon first touch, but where to start?

Our ZenFone has a default program that will allow you to test all the hardware features and capabilities of your device and that's the SMMI Test (I do believe it stands for Single Man Machine Interface) . To start, just go to your Calculator app and input .12345+= as shown below.

After doing so the SMMI Menu will appear. Details like CPU Usage, Battery Level and Memory Usage Graph will be shown. Here you can establish your standard data as basis for your further usage. Let's check out "Single Test" to further elaborate the specific parts of it.

Here's the list of all hardware test that will be conducted to your device if you happen to choose the "Test All" option from the menu above. We'll look onto each of the test to assure that your device is properly working

Will turn on and off your Bluetooth for testing. No userinteraction needed unless you want to test it again.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-44-38.jpg
Same with Bluetooth, will turn on and off your WiFi.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-44-48.jpg
Pretty much a sure pass test with this one.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-44-58.jpg
Same with WiFi and Bluetooth test, no user interactionneeded.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-45-07.jpg
Again, will test on its own.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-46-04.jpg
For the GSensor, you’ll have to grab your phone and shove itupwards, sideways and diagonally (You might have to do it twice or thrice) toachieve a passing result.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-47-09.jpg
This test will allow you to examine the whole screen for malfunctioning areas. The device won't declare if it's a pass or fail so it's up to you to decide.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-47-27.jpg
The camera flash will open for a while and it's all good.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-47-49.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-47-54.jpg
You can declare this as a failed test once you press the fail button but pressing the instructed buttons will automatically declare it as passing result.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-48-49.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-49-09.jpg
Same with the keypad test but in this one pressing with 5 fingers will declare a passing result.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-49-54.jpg
Device will vibrate for a while before showing the passing result,

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-50-14.jpg
You'll be hearing some robotic audio then it will be a success afterwards.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-50-39.jpg
You'll hear again some robotic voices here to test if the speakers are working.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-50-56.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-51-17.jpg
You'll have to speak here so that the device can play it back for you before declaring a passing test.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-52-21.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-53-34.jpg
Front and Back Camera Test.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-53-42.jpg
Test success will be shown after taking a shot.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-54-05.jpg
You'll have to press your screen here multiple times to render different colors before showing a passing result.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-55-39.jpg
You'll have to plug your headset here to achieve a passing result. This test is same with the speaker test.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-56-00.jpg
This test is same with the Board Mic 1 and 2.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-56-28.jpg
Same with Keypad Test but the buttons involved are the ones in your headset.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-56-52.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-56-56.jpg
You'll have to move your hands to the distance instructed. The sensor is most likely on the upper left of your device.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-57-32.jpg Screenshot_2015-10-30-13-58-12.jpg
I actually switched on the flash of my other phone for this one

Screenshot_2015-10-30-14-01-33.jpg
You'll need an OTG Cable here and plug a Usb type mouse for this to pass. (This can also be used with keyboard)

Screenshot_2015-10-30-15-36-40.jpg
I suggest that you insert you simcard before conducting the overall test because of this. This won't work unless you have a working simcard attached.

Screenshot_2015-10-30-15-37-57.jpg
Again, I've used another device here with NFC capability. Just turn on the NFC of your other device and on their backs, bump them a little until it shows success.

Those are the individual testsn nd by choosing the "Test All" option, your device will conduct all of these from Bluetooth to NFC This is quite interesting and yet helpful for us to determine the quality of the device and also to check for either major and minor errors to prevent future problems
