ASUS 5 Bug Report

Firmware/APP Version: 3.24.40.78
Frequency of Occurrence: 1.2ghz
Rooted: No
APP Name: Battery / System
Screenshot: -

Hello Asus,

My ZF5 battery is draining like anything for the past couple of night. Last night i left it on with 75% and in the morning i found it switched off due to low battery and the daily wake up alarm did not ring. This happened yesterday too.

This issue is coming up after I upgraded to 5.0, f/w ver. 3.24.40.78.

Note the Orange/Red bars on the Cellular network signal row. Does this mean that the Cellular network signal is consuming the major part of the battery??

Also, is there any way to pull detailed battery stat reports from the system in txt / XML format so that I investigate them?

Please reply with your findings ASAP.

Regards,
Anirban.

Well, did you optimize apps through Auto-Start manager and use the power saver preferences?

My battery drain is normal. Only drains faster in heavy usage.

I rooted and add some tweak to build prop. I can show you some tips if you want
Add these tweak to "build.a501cg.prop" :

pm.sleep_mode=1
power.saving.mode=1
ro.config.hw_power_saving=true
# Reduce Background apps limit from 32 to 10
ro.sys.fw.bg_apps_limit=10

Then, boot to recovery and clear cache.
Maybe. You can download any cpu overflow control app to down max cpu freq from 1600 to 1333.
It work for me ! But you can stop draining battery while use web browser, play games.

   This reply is the best answer.
from the graphs I can see that your not charging your phone to 100%
charge your phone to 100% and let it charge for few ore mins
remove recent apps
use auto start manager and stop apps from running in background

restart your phone at least once in 2 days

Have you read this thread?

Please note how your phone is awake when your screen is off on 11/20, and earlier before battery died. This is wakelock.

And if it is the same wakelock as in earlier roms, then you cannot do ANYTHING. Even with root.
I've written about it many times but it seems nobody is listening.

I have no other advice but to downgrade your system.

PS. Not charging to 100% is very good practice.

Yes that is exactly what is happening to my device. I had suspected that its not entering Deep Sleep. Once or twice I have noticed that the device is warm even though its screen is off for a long time.

Seems like I made a bad choice buying the ZF5 instead of Moto G2/3. Even if Asus has provided good hardware, the underlying firmware is buggy as hell.

My batt ...

Yes I did. 80% of the apps are switched off on AutoStart manager.

I always use the Power Saving mode, so networks are switched off when device is idle for some time.
