In a few more weeks and we will be finally seeing, and be getting our hands to, the latest lineup ASUS has to offer – the Zenfone 5. It was announced during the Mobile World Congress 2018 that they will be releasing three main variants for this lineup – the Zenfone 5 Lite (Zenfone 5Q here in the Philippines), the Zenfone 5, and the Zenfone 5Z, which will be available on April, May, and June respectively. Luckily I was able to get a preview and experience one of them, the Zenfone 5Q.

Let’s check out it’s internals first.
DISCLAIMER: The unit that I have is not yet the final retail unit. Some items/configurations might still be changed.

The Zenfone 5Q is powered by Snapdragon 630 and has Adreno 508 for its graphics. A pretty solid combination for your daily activities. It packs in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. Running on Android Nougat out of the box paired with the latest ZenUI 5. I am hoping that this would be upgraded to Android Oreo soon. It also has a 3300mAh of battery juice which could last almost the day, but that’s what I would still be testing out in a few more days.

What’s inside the box:

Zenfone 5Q, Asus ZenEar, Micro USB Data Cable, USB Wall Charger, Ejector Pin, Clear Bumper Case (not included in this unit), and Documentations (User Guide and Warranty Card).

Zenfone 5Q is a 6.00” smartphone packed in a 5.50” 2.5D glass unibody. Its 18:9 ratio uses the latest edge-to-edge Full View display. Viewing experience is a lot better because of its Full HD (2160x1080) display which hasa great color accuracy.

The Zenfone 5Q is available in three colorways, the Midnight Black, the Moonlight White, and the Rouge Red (which is the best colorway forme.)

Up front you can find the dual front cameras. The main front camera has a 20MP Sony IMX sensor with a F2.0 aperture and its secondary camera is a 120° wide angle lens which is great for incorporating those great background images for your selfies and wefies.

The rear camera is oriented vertically at the back boosting its 16MP with F2.2 aperture and is also paired with a 120° wide angle lens, best for those landscape photos. And just below the dual rear cameras is where the fingerprint scanner.

On top you can find the 3.5mm audio jack.

The volume rocker and the power button is found on the right side.

While the sim tray is located on the left side that supports triple slot tray - with two sim slots and a dedictaed micro SD card slot for expanded storage.

At the bottom is where the speaker grilles and the USB port is.

Care to know 5Q’s Antutu benchmark?

That’s it for me now. Please do watch out for my full review up next.
