Wi-Fi frequency at which your Wi-Fi router operates some can operate at 5 GHz while some at 2.4 GHz and some operate on both frequencies.

Let’s get started.

1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi

2. Now you need to click the 3 dots to extreme top right of the screen and tap Advanced.

3. Once you are in the advanced mode, click the Wi-Fi frequency option.

It is currently set to ‘Automatic’ as shown above. Tap it to change the value.

4. Once you tap the Wi-Fi frequency, you can see options you can select depending upon the Wi-Fi router you are connecting to.

5. Let’s select 5 GHz only, After you select that you can see it shows 5 GHz as below.

Note: - If you manually set the frequency make sure your router is also set at that frequency and supports it, or else your Wi-Fi won’t work and also if you connect to many Wi-Fi networks and are not sure about their frequencies it is always best to keep your Wi-Fi frequency on automatic.

2.4ghz frequency propagates better through walls than 5 ghz , so this helps in reducing batter consumption. So 2.4ghz is likely to consume less battery.
